Tarptautinis simpoziumas „Lietuva ir Vokietija Europoje: žvilgsnis iš 700 metų perspektyvos“
Prieš 700 metų Lietuvos valdovas Gediminas išsiuntė laiškus Vokietijos miestams ir visai krikščioniškajai Europai, kviesdamas pirklius, amatininkus ir kitas socialines grupes įsikurti Lietuvoje. Šiuose laiškuose 1323 metais pirmą kartą rašytiniuose šaltiniuose paminėtas Lietuvos Didžiosios Kunigaikštystės sostinės vardas – Vilnius. Tai buvo posūkis Lietuvos istorijoje, suteikęs naują postūmį tolesnei Lietuvos Didžiosios Kunigaikštystės ekonominei, socialinei ir kultūrinei raidai, – jos integracijos į Vakarų Europos civilizacijos erdvę pradžia.
2022–2023 metai – esminis lūžio momentas Europoje. Europa ir visas demokratinis pasaulis susidūrė su Rusijos karu prieš Ukrainą ir iššūkiais, nulėmusiais didžiulius pokyčius mūsų visuomenėse. Suvienytos Europos idėja, europinių vertybių ir žmogaus teisių apsauga tapo kaip niekada svarbios.
2022–2023 metai – esminis lūžio momentas Europoje. Europa ir visas demokratinis pasaulis susidūrė su Rusijos karu prieš Ukrainą ir iššūkiais, nulėmusiais didžiulius pokyčius mūsų visuomenėse. Suvienytos Europos idėja, europinių vertybių ir žmogaus teisių apsauga tapo kaip niekada svarbios.
Simpoziumas organizuojamas bendradarbiaujant su Lietuvos Respublikos Prezidentūra. Politikai, istorikai ir kiti akademinės bendruomenės atstovai diskutuos apie Europos vertybes ir tapatybę, Europos praeitį ir ateitį.
Renginys verčiamas į lietuvių, vokiečių ir anglų kalbas.

Internationales Symposium 'Litauen und Deutschland in Europa: Ein Blick aus der Perspektive von 700 Jahren'
Vor 700 Jahren sandte Gediminas, der Herrscher von Litauen, Briefe an deutsche Städte und an das gesamte christliche Europa, in denen er Handelsleute, Handwerker und andere Bevölkerungsgruppen einlud, sich in Litauen niederzulassen. In diesen Briefen wurde der Name Vilnius, die Hauptstadt des Großfürstentums Litauen, im Jahre 1323 erstmals schriftlich erwähnt. Dies war ein Wendepunkt in der Geschichte Litauens, der der weiteren wirtschaftlichen, sozialen und kulturellen Entwicklung des Großfürstentums Litauen neue Impulse verlieh, nämlich der Beginn seiner Integration in den westeuropäischen Zivilisationsraum.
Das Jahr 2022 ist auch ein entscheidender Wendepunkt in Europa. Europa und die ganze demokratische Welt sind mit dem Krieg Russlands gegen die Ukraine und den Herausforderungen konfrontiert, die zu tiefgreifenden Veränderungen in unseren Gesellschaften geführt haben. Die Idee eines geeinten Europas, der Schutz der europäischen Werte und der Menschenrechte sind wichtiger denn je geworden.
Das Symposium wird in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Präsidialamt der Republik Litauen veranstaltet. Vertreter aus Politik, Wirtschaft und dem Hochschulbereich werden über europäische Werte und Identität, Europas Vergangenheit und Zukunft diskutieren.
Simultane Übersetzung ins Litauische, Deutsche und Englische wird angeboten.

International Symposium 'Lithuania and Germany in Europe: View from the Perspective of 700 Years'
700 years ago, the ruler of Lithuania Gediminas sent letters to German cities and the whole of Christian Europe, inviting merchants, craftsmen and other social groups to set up in Lithuania. In these letters, the name of the capital of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania – Vilnius – was mentioned for the first time in a written source in 1323. It was a turning point in Lithuania’s history that gave a major impetus for the further economic, social and cultural development of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania – the start of its integration into the civilizational space of Western Europe.
2022 was a watershed moment for Europe. It was the year that Europe and the democratic world were confronted with Russia’s war against Ukraine and challenges leading to enormous changes in our societies. The idea of a united Europe, the protection of European values and human rights became more relevant than ever.
The Symposium is organized in partnership with the President of the Republic of Lithuania. Politicians, historians and other members of the academia will offer their views on European values and identity, the past and the future of Europe.
Simultaneous translation into Lithuanian, German and English will be provided.
