The book presents a brief history of the Palace of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania in Vilnius Lower Castle and the reconstruction of this important residence of the rulers of Lithuania.  It also presents highlights from its very large, varied, and valuable archeological collections and some of the most significant acquisitions for its interior displays, reflecting Lithuania’s historical ties with Europe. The book provides floor plans for planned exhibitions, a chronology of the most important dates in the history of the palace, and information about new objects from abroad relating to Lithuanian history.

Catalogue of the international exhibition „Portraits of the Rulers and Magnates of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania from Museums in Ukraine“ presents the Lithuania-related portrait collection, stored in museums in Lviv and Lutsk. The publication includes articles about historical ties between Lithuania and Ukraine, history of portrait origins and collection formation in Ukrainian museums, their artistic value and conservation process.

This monograph by the preeminent historian of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, researcher at The Institute of Lithuanian History, and professor at the Vytautas Magnus University in Kaunas, Dr. Habil. Antanas Tyla, analyzes the development of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania’s treasury and tax system from the mid-16th to the mid-17th centuries, the dynamics of tax revenues flowing into the state and court treasuries as well as the different categories of expenditures and their effectiveness in meeting state goals, especially defense. There is an account of the impact of the Union of Lublin on the treasury, the expansion of taxable objects, the financing of the Livonian War, Stephan Bathory’s military campaign against Muscovy, Sigismund Vasa’s dynastic policy arguments with Sweden, the Commonwealth’s war against Muscovy and the re-taking of Smolensk, and the adjustment of the tax system to meet increasing needs.

This book about the history, architecture, and plans to research and restore the Sapieha Palace and park ensemble, which was built at the end of the 17th century in the Antakalnis district just outside Vilnius, is based on written sources and physical evidence.

This catalogue of the international exhibition The Crosses stand for virtue, the Arrow for victory… The Sapiehas –statesmen, art patrons and collectors recounts the story of the Sapieha family. The main emphasis is on their activities relating to politics, the law, and the military as well as their contributions to the arts and culture through patronage and collecting. The catalogue contains comprehensive thematic introductory essays and descriptions of the exhibition’s objects.

This biographical list consists of the works of one of the most famous and productive historians of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, Dr. Mečislovas Jučas. It spans over 57 years and includes books; articles in encyclopedias and serial publications; internet webpages; edited works and reviewed works (including dissertations and master’s theses). Dr. Jučas is a member of the Lithuanian Catholic Academy of Sciences, recipient of the Simonas Daukantas Prize, Knight of the Order of the Grand Duke Gediminas, and long-time professor of the History Faculty at Vilnius University. This list includes critical works about M. Jučas as well as an introductory article by Prof. Vytautas Merkys, which provides a biographical overview and descriptions of some of the most important research findings of Dr. M. Jučas.

The book raises questions concerning the social and cultural aspects of leisure activities; the probable cultural, economic, and political reasons for the popularity and legality of toys and games, and their place in the populace of the time. This book should be of interest not only to specialists, but also to the general public interested in the history of Lithuanian toys and everyday life.
