At the National Museum – Palace of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania, we welcome everyone and constantly strive to ensure that the museum's spaces, exhibitions, displays, and infrastructure are accessible to people with disabilities. The museum is adapted for visitors with mobility impairments: lifts, elevators, and other facilities are available. If needed, a wheelchair can also be provided – please inquire at the ticket office.
Tickets
People with disabilities and their accompanying persons (one companion per person), as well as holders of a POLA card, are eligible for a 100% discount.
If you are unable to move around the museum independently, you may bring a companion. Your accompanying person may also enter free of charge. Don’t forget to collect your (free) entrance tickets at the museum's ticket office.
More information about ticket prices and available discounts can be found
here.
Museum Spaces
The museum is accessible for people with mobility impairments. It is equipped with lifts and elevators, as well as accessible toilets. There is seating available on every route.
If needed, we can also provide a wheelchair, which you can request at the ticket office. If you plan to use a museum-provided wheelchair and will require assistance, please come with a companion.
A map of the museum indicating elevators and accessible toilets can be found
here.
Adapted for visitors with visual impairments
The first route of the museum invites visitors to get acquainted with the great historical personalities Bona Sforza and Sigismund the Old. This narrative reveals their period and importance in Lithuanian history.
In order to ensure an experience for all, the exhibition is adapted for visitors with visual impairments. Relief images allow you to "see" the portraits of the rulers with your hands, while informative texts are also available in Braille.
Quieter Hours
The museum is usually less crowded during the first half of the day. On weekends—especially during free cultural Sundays—it tends to be noisier than on regular weekdays.
Therefore, we encourage visitors with auditory sensitivity to visit earlier in the day. If you're unsure, you can inquire with ticket office staff by phone at +370 5 255 9161. And if you'd prefer to stay at home, you can explore the museum's exhibits or exhibitions online and take your time browsing the collection.
Other events, which may be noisy, often take place in the museum. We provide information about these and other visiting restrictions
here.
Guide Dogs
The museum welcomes specially trained guide dogs that assist people with disabilities. It is important to have documents confirming their status. Other animals are not allowed in the museum.
Audio Guides
You can explore the museum and its exhibits with an audio guide in Lithuanian, English, and Russian (Routes I and II), as well as Ukrainian and Polish (Route III) for 1 euro. It can be purchased along with your ticket at the museum’s ticket office.
3D virtual travel
On Routes I and III of the Museum, visitors can get acquainted with the history of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania in Lithuanian and English (8 minutes) and views of the restored Gediminas Tower (6 minutes).
The 3D tours are subtitled, so if you have a hearing impairment, you can enjoy them too. However, we warn that some people may experience some incoordination.
Tickets are available at the museum ticket office. Both virtual journeys cost €3 + the route visitor ticket.

The educational specialists at the Palace of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania tailor programs for children, youth, and adults with visual, speech, or hearing impairments. However, advance registration is required. Please send your inquiries to edukacija@valdovurumai.lt
