The Marco Scacchi International Early Music Festival has come to a close. This year, the concerts at the Palace of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania were attended by packed houses. Thank you to all the listeners! A special thank you goes to the sponsors, whose support enabled the festival organizers to invite renowned foreign early music performers, allowing us to hear unexpected interpretations and concerts by virtuoso performers!
It has become a tradition to bid farewell to the festival with a surprise—on Johann Sebastian Bach’s birthday, when this genius’s music is performed in unexpected venues. This time, it was in the underground passage of the ARTERY Business Center in Vilnius. On March 21, 2026, soprano Karolina Parmas and harpsichordist Vilimas Norkūnas invited passersby on a brief tour of Baroque-era Europe—from misty England, through champagne-bubbling France, sunny Italy to the German-speaking lands where Johann Sebastian Bach was born. The program drew inspiration from Georg Philipp Telemann’s song collection “Singing Geography.”
“Bach in the Subways” is a tradition popular around the world, where the great maestro is honored with concerts in the most unexpected places.
