Specialists at the museum developed a professional development program for Lithuanian teachers titled "Creative Tools for Educational Efficiency." Teachers were invited to participate in a 60-hour course, held both in person and remotely. During the sessions, museum professionals explained how the state and society can be presented to students in an engaging way using a historical landmark – the Palace of the Grand Dukes.

On March 20th, 2026, the Transcarpathian Museum of Regional History named after Tivodar Lehotsky in Uzhhorod, Ukraine, opened an exhibition detailing the history of the Palace of the Grand Dukes in Vilnius, its turbulent past and heritage and the bonds between Lithuanians and Ukrainians dating back to the 10th century. This panel exhibition opens an important chapter of shared European, Ukrainian and Lithuanian history for visitors, highlighting the period when parts of modern-day Ukraine belonged to the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. The Palace in Vilnius was the birthplace of political, cultural, and legal traditions that became a significant part of Ukrainian history.

Sometimes, all you need is to look up... The sundial of the Palace of the Grand Dukes shows the true solar time, by which life in the Palace once unfolded. The shadow cast by the gnomon’s pointer marks the time of day, while the shadow of the small sphere indicates the month and the Zodiac sign in which the Sun currently resides.

On March 12th, the First Lady of the Czech Republic, Eva Pavlová, visited the Palace of the Grand Dukes Museum together with the First Lady of the Republic of Lithuania, Diana Nausėdienė. The guests were welcomed by the Museum’s Director General, Dr. Vydas Dolinskas, while Museum Projects Manager Asta Junevičienė introduced the Czech First Lady to Lithuanian history, speaking about the development of the state, our national identity, and the historical dynastic ties between the Grand Duchy of Lithuania and the Kingdom of Bohemia.

The First Lady of the Czech Republic noted that both nations share similar experiences in preserving their identity and culture, and that respect for history and heritage helps strengthen the friendship between our countries.

On the eve of the Day of Restoration of Independence of Lithuania, the Palace of the Grand Dukes Museum introduced an exhibition showcasing the state's most important symbol—the Lithuanian coat of arms, the Vytis. The international exhibition "Verdures with the Vytis. Tapestries of the Princes Wiśniowiecki and Sanguszko from Wawel" displays exceptional Lithuanian heritage pieces – textiles regarded as priceless relics of Polish and Lithuanian history. The tapestries have been brought from Wawel Royal Castle – State Art Collections (Krakow, Poland).

On March 10th, at the age of 71, photographer and book publisher Raimondas Paknys passed away after a serious illness. R. Paknys was born on April 16, 1954, in Vilnius. He studied at A. Vienuolis Secondary School and graduated with a degree in journalism from Vilnius University in 1976. From 1972 to 1986, he served as a photojournalist for Lithuanian Television, later working as a photographer for the "Vaizdas" experimental photo studio at the "Vaga" publishing house.

Every year, as spring begins to knock on the door, the Palace of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania remembers Prince Saint Casimir. On March 4th, we celebrate Saint Casimir's name day. In modern times, this day is inseparable from the Kaziukas Fair, a tradition dating back to the 17th century that began as a religious feast to honor the patron saint of Lithuania.

The National Museum – Palace of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania is constantly searching for and acquiring treasures that restore the heritage of the scattered Grand Duchy of Lithuania and expand the museum's collections. The gathering of exhibits began even before the museum was officially established. Since then, many acquired or donated items have been presented to the public.
