An ensemble of two French performers invites us to an ornate palace of French music in the programme titled “Aux côtés de Rameau”. Commemorating along with the rest of the musical world the 250th anniversary of the death of the famous Late Baroque composer, harpsichordist and author of musical treatises, Jean-Philippe Rameau, viola player François Joubert-Caillet and harpsichordist Philippe Grisvard have put together a music programme featuring Rameau and his contemporaries, that envelops the renowned maestro, revealing all the shades and qualities of French taste. “We will not be performing complete suites but rather separate pieces for solo harpsichord and viola da gamba – in this way, it will be as if these instruments are engaged in conversation, like old friends…”, explain the performers, both former students of the famous Schola Cantorum in Basel, experienced soloists and chamber music performers. We are all in store for a true French feast for the ears, where we’ll feel whether this music’s external moderation actually hides somewhat more elaborate emotions and passions…
