In 1782, on the occasion of the birthday of Peter III, the spouse of Queen Mary I of Portugal, the opera "Everard II - King of Lithuania" by the famous Portuguese composer of that time, João de Souza Carvalho, was performed at the Royal Palace of Kelusso. More than 200 years later, the score of this Lithuanian-themed opera was found in the archives of the Royal Palace in Madrid by the Lithuanian-born conductor Alexis Soriano Monte Monstavičius. On his initiative, the opera Everard II - King of Lithuania was staged at the National Museum - Palace of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania in 2013. The book presents the opera in Lithuanian, English, Italian, Portuguese and Spanish, as well as the libretto, translated from Old Italian into Lithuanian by the Italian Gaetano Martinelli, and facsimiles of the original libretto.
The book was co-financed by the Lithuanian Council for Culture and the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Lithuania.
