The National Museum – Palace of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania has released the fifth volume of The Chronicle of the Palace of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania (Chronicon Palatii Magnorum Ducum Lithuaniae), which encompasses texts, historical facts, and topics covering the Museum’s day-to-day activities and scholarly work from 2017 to 2020.
Publication was delayed due to the pandemic: many changes occurred, the content was expanded, some contributors left, while others joined the editorial team, organizers, and authors.
“I especially want to thank everyone who contributed to the publication – the editorial team: Dr. Živilė Mikailienė, Ramunė Vaičiulytė, Asta Junevičienė, editor Laima Kunickytė, editor and translator Albina Strunga, reviewers Prof. Dr. Ramunė Šmigelskytė-Stukienė and Dr. Irutė Kaminskaitė, photographers Vytautas Abramauskas and Mindaugas Kaminskas, and others whose visuals enriched the pages of the book,” says compiler Gintautas Striška. “Special thanks go to the chairman of the editorial board Dr. Vydas Dolinskas and the entire editorial board for their patience, sharp eye, and demand for the highest quality.”
The authors of the articles include: Dalius Avižinis, Dr. Povilas Blaževičius, Dr. Paulius Bugys, Dr. Vydas Dolinskas, Dr. Rasa Gliebutė, Eimantas Gudas, Jurgita Kalėjienė, Dr. Jolanta Karpavičienė, Dr. Ieva Kuizinienė, Edmundas Kulikauskas, Mantvidas Mieliauskas, Dr. Živilė Mikailienė, Daiva Mitrulevičiūtė, Dr. Rūtilė Pukienė, Lirija Steponavičienė, Ėrika Striškienė, Nijolė Urbienė, Marijus Uzorka, Ramunė Vaičiulytė, Dr. Toma Zarankaitė-Margienė, Eglė Zaveckienė, and others.
The volume features scholarly articles and descriptions of research conducted between 2017 and 2020. Thanks to the authors’ efforts, the Museum’s life has been documented—from its work in the reconstructed palace to the period when the second part of the palace was opened. In 2018, the exhibition space nearly doubled, marking the beginning of the long-planned phase of daily operations for the Museum.
The Chronicle of the Palace of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania can be purchased at the Museum’s ticket offices or through the Museum’s official website.
