The Palace of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania Museum has opened an international exhibition, “The word goes forth from Malbork... Treasures of Malbork“, where you can see weapons, works of art, liturgical objects and everyday items – everything that the soldiers of the Teutonic Order used in this castle during the Middle Ages.
One of the exhibition’s most important exhibits is the Tenkytai Altar, created in 1504 and commissioned by dignitaries of the Teutonic Order. After the Second World War, its parts were scattered, and it was not until 1997 that the Malbork Castle Museum managed to reassemble the entire altar. Today, this medieval masterpiece has travelled beyond the walls of Malbork Castle for the first time – to Vilnius.
