Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre Symphony Orchestra
Artistic director and conductor Martynas Staškus
Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre Symphony Orchestra – it is an always young collective, in which students of the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre play. In different periods prof. Jurgis Fledžinskas, prof. Juozas Domarkas, prof. Gintaras Rinkevičius, assoc. prof. Laurynas Vakaris Lopas, assoc. prof. Robertas Šervenikas worked with this LAMT collective. Since 2012 m. conductor Martynas Staškus is the head of the orchestra.
Orchestra repertoire – pieces from the famous classics of world music and Lithuanian composers – is constantly renewed and furthered.
The symphony orchestra of the academy take part in various projects: the Baltic Youth Symphony Orchestra session, Baltic and North Country United Student Orchestra session, Stuttgart J. S. Bach Academic International Orchestra programs, Lithuanian Music Association “In the Great Music Parade”, W. A. Mozart Week, festivals “Atžalynas“, “Usedomer Musikfestival”, “Young Euro Classic”.
They toured numerous times in Austria, Denmark, Spain, Italy, Holland, Switzerland, Russia, Germany.
To be the head of a collective that is constantly shifting and renewing – that is a considerable challenge, however I joyfully give my accumulated experience as well as knowledge as a conductor to my young colleagues. The LAMT Symphony Orchestra is a never ending process, the main goal of which is to prepare professional orchestra musicians who are not afraid of artistic challenges, and at the same time prepare attractive programs.
