
Joining the celebration of the European Day of Early Music, the Palace of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania invites you to a whole day of events! Interactive installations, a lecture, educational activities and a concert await you. Find out what was typical for the technique of music composition in the Baroque period, as well as today, try yourself out in the role of a composer and find the musical instruments dispersed in the expositions!

A public lecture-presentation by the composer Marija Paškevičiūtė “Squareness as a Universal Musical Structural Principle: Before and Now”
Principles of squareness in the structure of musical pieces, its origins and historical evolution in classical as well as contemporary music will be discussed in the lecture. Music from Johann Sebastian Bach and Antonio Vivaldi to minimalism, contemporary cinema music and techno music will be discussed.
