"The London Gazette" is the oldest continuously published newspaper in the United Kingdom. Its first issue was printed on November 7, 1665. It was one of three newspapers published by the government, the other two being "The Edinburgh Gazette" and "The Belfast Gazette". The newspaper was issued twice a week, but its method of distribution was somewhat different from today: issues were sent only to subscribers and were not distributed to the general public.
In addition to covering the main events in Great Britain, the newspaper devoted significant attention to foreign news. The presented copy of "The London Gazette" was published in 1684, issue No. 1997. It includes news from the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, describing the political situation, the arrival of envoys, conflicts with the Grand Duchy of Moscow, and more.
