The National Museum – Palace of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania and its general director, Dr Vydas Dolinskas, have been awarded the Aleksander Gieysztor Award by the Polish science and culture magazine Przegląd Wschodni (eng. Eastern Review). The decision was announced by the award panel, which is made up of renowned Polish researchers and cultural figures.
The nomination emphasises that Dr Vydas Dolinskas and the Palace of the Grand Dukes, which he leads, deserve the honour "for their outstandingly active educational, social and publishing activities, which seek to bear witness to the region of Lithuania, Poland and the whole of Central and Eastern Europe as a place of common values, common ideas, common history and common future".
The award ceremony will take place on the 23rd of March at the Potocki-Tiskiewicz Palace of the University of Warsaw.
