CAPPELLA TEMPORALE Chamber Orchestra
Sławomir Zubrzycki (viola organista, Poland)
Monika Kučinska (soprano)

Forming especially for this occasion, the last day of the year, the Cappella Temporale Chamber Orchestra will again offer audiences an unforgettable musical journey with Antonio Vivaldi's Four Seasons, wonderful melodies, musical quirks, surprises and interesting soloists!

This year, the orchestra's main guest will be the Polish composer and master of musical instruments, born and still living in Krakow, Sławomir Zubrzycki. Graduating from the Academy of Music in Krakow in 1988 specialising in piano and composition, he later went on to study at the Boston Conservatory, and developed his skills and knowledge by attending numerous master classes.

In 2009 Zubrzycki took a deeper interest in certain sketches by the Renaissance genius, Leonardo da Vinci, who died 500 years ago. The sketches were for a non-traditional instrument which combined the qualities of a keyboard and stringed instrument – the  viola organista. Having intensively studied the original sketches in 1488–1489, as well as diagrams of independently created similar instruments in later times, Sławomir has resurrected this unique instrument for a new life in concerts, and will be bringing it to Lithuania for this evening.

The soprano Monika Kučinska appearing in this evening's program is a laureate of international competitions, a festival participant and regularly appears in concerts in Lithuania and abroad. Monika is the 1st prize winner of the 19th Vincė Jonuškaitė-Zaunienė Singers Competition and has taken roles in the theatre performance Meistriškumo pamoka (Maria Callas) [Master class (Maria Callas) at the State Small Theatre of Vilnius, and in operas directed by Dalia Ibelhauptaitė for Vilnius City Opera including Puccini's Tosca, Verdi's The Troubadour, Mozart's Cosi fan tutte, Gounod's Faust and Tchaikovsky's The Queen of Spades. The soloist is currently developing her vocal skills at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre in the class of Prof. Asta Krikščiūnaitė.
