Egeria ensemble (Spain)
In the vast expanse of time and space, two iconic figures of exploration will join their destinies to prepare an unprecedented journey. Egeria, the intrepid fourth-century pilgrim who detailed her chronicles of the Holy Land with devotion and curiosity, and Marco Polo, the Venetian adventurer whose tales of the exotic Orient fascinated generations and generations.
In a legendary encounter, these two adventurous spirits now embark together on a common mission: to explore together the enigmatic and fantastic World of Wonders, a realm where reality is intertwined with the fantastic and every step is a new discovery. On this journey, their different perspectives and experiences will intermingle, creating a story that transcends time and imagination, promising a journey full of wonder and revelations.
This program, which brings together a miscellany of heterogeneous repertoires of diverse origins (Spanish, Italian, Maronite and Chinese) and which includes the restoration of some Marian pieces contained in the manuscript Latin. 5132 from the Monastery of Ripoll, was the winner of the Festclásica Seal Award, with which the ensemble undertook a large tour of concerts at the largest festivals in Spain last season. The repertoire is mostly composed of “wandering” pieces, music that has “traveled” through time and space, finding its home in distant, even unexpected places, crossing cultural and geographical borders to take refuge in different terrains from where they were created, carrying with them stories of exchange, encounter and convergence.
Concert is presented by the Embassy of Spain in Lithuania.
