“Home Jazz Band” – traditional jazz rebels since 2011

A soft trumpet note slips through the heavy cellar doors. Inside is a secret bar, hazy with the smoke of ladies’ cigarillos and humming with intimate conversation. On stage, the double bassist sets the pulse of the room with unhurried strokes, while the guitarist’s rhythmic strumming and the lively shimmer of the cymbals beckon guests beyond the purple satin curtains. In the flickering dance floor at the back of the bar, couples, warmed by the music, dance with abandon. Men in suits and women with red lips whirl to the clarinettist’s dazzling flourishes.

You don’t need a time machine to experience this. There is no need to travel back to New Orleans in the 1920s or New York in the 1940s. The traditional jazz and swing ensemble “Home Jazz Band” will take you on that journey through time. Since 2011, the group has been breaking the mould, rediscovering musical treasures hidden in the vaults of history and bringing them back to life. Audiences will not only be swept into a whirl of dance, but will also discover more about the street parades of New Orleans, vaudeville, ragtime, big-band music and European jazz. “Home Jazz Band” plays jazz in all its forms – authentic, sometimes punk-rock in spirit; as soft as silk at times, rough and gritty at others. Above all, it is genuine.

Girmantė Vaitkutė is a singer and songwriter whose repertoire spans jazz, soul, gospel and pop. Known for her vocal mastery and warm tone, she captivates audiences with her charisma, musicality and fluid, melodic improvisations.

Swing is an essential part of the Christmas season. “Home Jazz Band” and Girmantė Vaitkutė invite you on a jazz journey to feel the warmth of Christmas songs, embrace the freedom of jazz and enjoy a whole spectrum of moods.
