During Night of the Museums, visitors will have a unique opportunity to see the silent film “Leonardo da Vinci” (Italy, 1919), with a live improvised soundtrack by harpsichordist and composer Vitalijus Neugasimovas.
This film was directed by one of Italy’s first female directors, actress Giulia Cassini-Rizzotto, together with Mario Corsi. It is a biographical work that thoroughly explores the life of the Renaissance genius—from his years as an apprentice to his final days in Amboise (France), including his encounter with the Mona Lisa. The film was created to mark the 400th anniversary of Leonardo’s death.
