The program of the concert “Thirteen Emotions” is based on the idea of the relationship between music and emotions explored in the Baroque period. Musicians have long been looking for means and ways to emotionally influence and convince the listener. Using musical harmony, melody or form, an attempt was made to create a kind of chain reaction that would trigger the listeners’ various emotional states.

The works performed in this program reflect thirteen different human states, from the positive ones which we seek to experience as often as possible (joy, satisfaction or playfulness), to those that are familiar to many, but often rather avoided (envy, grief or even rage). This diverse musical journey will allow listeners to delve into not only the world view of the Baroque times but also themselves. Although names and concepts have changed over the centuries, a person’s sensitivity to music has not vanished.

The concert will feature works by José Marín, Gaspar Sanz, Honoré d’Ambruys, Sébastien Le Camus, Bellerofonte Castaldi, Henry Purcell, Charles Coleman, Tarquinio Merula, Giovanni Girolamo Kapsperger, Barbara Strozzi, Claudio Monteverdi, Santiago de Murcia and Francesca Caccini.

Entrance is free of charge, but due to the limited number of seats, we kindly ask you to register in advance.
