One of the world’s oldest and most influential news organisations, The New York Times, has published its recommendations for visitors spending just two days in Vilnius. Topping the list is the Palace of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania Museum.
According to The New York Times, the best place to discover Lithuania’s history is the Palace of the Grand Dukes – a 15th-century palace complex that underwent multiple reconstructions before reopening as a museum in 2018.
The newspaper writes: “Inside, visitors can explore ceramics, clothing, armour and other aspects of Lithuania’s cultural history from past centuries. A current exhibition featuring a set of three 17th-century heraldic tapestries, never before displayed to the public, runs through July 17.
Don’t miss the route through the reconstructed historic interiors, where you’ll find dozens of richly decorated halls, bedchambers, grand ceremonial rooms and other historically significant spaces, as well as displays of crowns, goblets and other royal treasures.”
