A playful journey into Baroque

A playful journey into Baroque

For the third year running, the Education Department of the Palace of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania and the Kaunas Education Innovation Center invited Lithuanian 9th and 10th grade students to engage in an exciting battle of wits.

This year, the national competition "Journey Through Time: The Past Belongs to the Future" invited students and their teachers from Kaunas, Vilnius, Šiauliai, Birštonas, and Prienai to learn about the Baroque era and its most prominent figures.

Students participating in the competition are encouraged to broaden their horizons, learn more about the history of their country, and continue their journey through time: to learn about the dynastic, political, and cultural traces left by Lithuanian rulers in the history of their homeland and neighboring countries.

First place and the main prize in this competition – an educational trip to the Royal Castle in Warsaw – was won by the team from President Valdas Adamkus Gymnasium. This valuable prize is donated by the competition organizers – the Kaunas Education Innovation Center and the National Museum of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania – and sponsored by the competition partner, the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Lithuania.

The second place winners, the team from Kaunas Santaros Gymnasium, won an educational trip to the Lithuanian Sea Museum's dolphinarium. The museum, located on the coast, gladly agreed to welcome the winners free of charge and has been one of the competition's partners for three years now.

The team from Prienai Žiburio Gymnasium, which took third place, will enjoy a sweet educational excursion to the Rūta candy factory in the Sun City. A long-time supporter of the Palace of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania, the Rūta candy factory gladly agreed to contribute to finding ways to delight talented students.
